Pax “Funny Bug” 2022
60% Mourvedre 40% Grenache - from El Dorado County
Nose – Absolutely electric. Bright, high-toned red fruit just leaps out of the glass—strawberry and blueberry in overdrive, almost to the point of smelling like upscale fruit gummies. There’s a subtle floral lift layered in, along with this nostalgic incense note—sweet, slightly herbal, and a little wild. It’s unmistakably California, with a perfumed, almost ethereal quality that makes it hard to pull your nose away.
Palate – Just as compelling as the nose. There’s a real zip here—lively acidity that keeps everything fresh—but it’s balanced by a core of juicy, generous fruit. Light on its feet yet fully expressive, it’s dangerously easy to drink. At 12.5% ABV, it sits right in that sweet spot I keep coming back to lately.
Overall – This is the kind of bottle that disappears quickly and makes you immediately want more. I’ll definitely be stocking up.
